Chaque année, durant le mois d’octobre, est mise en œuvre la campagne annuelle « Octobre Rose » qui sert notamment à sensibiliser au dépistage du cancer du sein. Mais qui peut bénéficier d’un dépistage gratuit ?


Dépistage gratuit : pour qui ?

À partir de l’âge de 50 ans et tous les 2 ans (en l’absence de symptômes et de risque élevé), les femmes reçoivent à leur domicile un courrier les invitant à réaliser un dépistage du cancer du sein.

Une liste de radiologues agréés à effectuer ce dépistage gratuit est jointe à cette invitation.

Le dépistage consiste en un examen clinique des seins, ainsi qu’une mammographie (examen radiologique).

Dans le cadre du programme de dépistage organisé, une 2nde lecture systématique des mammographies jugées normales est assurée, par sécurité, par un 2nd radiologue expérimenté.

Pour les personnes âgées de moins de 50 ans et ne présentant aucun facteur de risque particulier, il est recommandé de ne pas réaliser de dépistage systématique.

Quant aux personnes âgées de plus de 74 ans, le dépistage du cancer du sein doit faire l’objet d’une discussion avec le médecin traitant.
