Coronavirus (COVID-19) : comment sécuriser les épandages ?

Le coronavirus (COVID-19) a été détecté dans les selles de certains patients. Or, ces substances peuvent potentiellement se retrouver dans les boues des stations d’épuration qu’utilisent les agriculteurs comme épandage. D’où la mise en place de mesures de protection spécifiques.

Pour les boues produites au cours de la crise sanitaire et bénéficiant d’un traitement hygiénisant, l’Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail (Anses) estime que le risque de contamination par le COVID-19 peut être considéré comme faible à négligeable étant donné l’efficacité́ de l’ensemble des traitements appliqués : compostage, séchage thermique, digestion anaérobie thermophile et chaulage.

Elle recommande toutefois de renforcer les contrôles pour s’assurer de la bonne mise en œuvre des procédés de traitement et le respect des mesures de protection qui doivent être adoptées habituellement par les employés des stations d’épuration et les agriculteurs réalisant l’épandage (équipements de protection collective et individuelle appropriés, lavage des mains, douche en fin d’activité, etc.).

Pour les boues produites pendant la crise sanitaire et n’ayant pas subi de traitement considéré́ comme hygiénisant, l’Anses recommande de ne pas les épandre sans hygiénisation préalable.
