1972 : c’est la date à laquelle a été mis en place le dépistage néonatal. Depuis, ce dernier n’a cessé d’être amélioré et étendu. Dans cette continuité, la liste des pathologies dépistées vient à nouveau d’être élargie…

Le dépistage néonatal : un dispositif gratuit et rapide

Pour rappel, il est proposé aux parents de tous les nouveau-nés en France un dépistage visant à détecter certaines pathologies de manière précoce et, ainsi, à mettre en place une prise en charge au plus tôt, gratuitement et avec l’accord des parents.

Depuis le 1er septembre 2025, 16 pathologies sont à présent dépistées, la liste ayant été enrichie de 3 nouvelles maladies, à savoir :

  • les déficits immunitaires combinés sévères (DICS), qui peuvent être traités grâce à une greffe de moelle osseuse réalisée dans les 2 premiers mois de vie ;
  • l’amyotrophie spinale infantile (SMA), maladie pour laquelle des thérapies géniques et médicamenteuses récentes sont possibles ; – le déficit en acyl-coenzyme A déshydrogénase des acides gras à chaîne très longue (VLCAD) qui nécessite la mise en place dès la naissance d’un régime alimentaire.
